The Christ Redeemer is celebrating 80 years

The icon of Rio and Brazil, which is the symbol of the people of any religion, who lives with open arms to Guanabara Bay, this is Christ the Redeemer who is doing 80 years.

A story with characters from around the world that took part in the construction and thousands of strangers who had their names behind the rocks that cover the structure.

One of the Seven Wonders of the World made with the support of the Catholic Circle and the money from the Brazilians, have as their father, the “carioca” engineer Heitor da Silva Costa, also Carlos Oswald the painter and the engineer Heitor Levy, the builder general.

Made of soapstone, the structure is all concrete and was carefully placed in a strategic point, to ensure that the symbol would be seen by anyone anywhere in the city, without a doubt the choice was perfect. Long live Christ, long live Rio de Janeiro!!
