Circo Voador

The “Circo Viador” is a historic concert place and one with more stories with important figures of the city. The importance of the Flying Circus is based on the influence they had on the Brazilian music, bossa nova to rock'n roll, there were many artists who have passed through the circus tent.

The story begins in 1982 on the shore of the Arpoador beach. Armed with the participation of people in the theater, but certainly the music was the art that appeared more and prevalent at today, now, the Circus is located in Lapa, right beside the famous arches.

An excellent place to meet people, share a beer and good music with your friends. It is recommended to take a kilo of food, so all you have to pay is the half of the entry. Enjoy the concert...

Viradão Carioca

Já comentei que no outono carioca a cidade se deixa levar pela música e pelos festivais. E essa sexta-feira começa o Viradão Carioca. Esse ano com uma atração nova, o Circo Arpoador, em uma alusão ao antigo Circo Voador que estava na praia do Arpoador.

A programação foi criticada por alguns, mas em geral ninguém pode falar da falta de variedades. Os locais programados são: Arpoador, Quinta da Boa Vista e Bangu, com muita música em três dias de festival.

The big party of the rock people

This will be the last years of the party A Maldita (will be in carnival). Borned 13 years before, this party is the only in Rio that can join in the same place different styles like the indie-pop, reaggae-country and the shoegaze, with the motto: "Start the week drinking a lot", that's because happen always in monday.

The DJ's Zé and Gordinho are 100% good vibration, and are the responsables to command the party. The drinks there is something special, they are separeted by starts: one star - "to stay cool"; two stars - "to the middle"; and three stars - "for who, that don't have nothing to lose".

Located in the center of the city, the Casa da Matriz, is a special disco, an old cinema that was converted in what is today. A big and old house which is part of city history.

Bailinho 2011

A festa que saiu do Rio para o Brasil volta a casa. E como cada ano, estréia novo local, Morro da Urca, mas com o mesmo feeling e boa música. É uma das festas mais consagradas do Rio de Janeiro em um dos lugares mais emblemáticos da cidade, Bailinho.

Infelizmente para essa edição as entradas estão esgotadas. Mas o Morro da Urca oferece muito mais proprostas no verão, além de Jorge Ben Jor, passaram pelo Morro, Moo Discoland, Maria Gadú, e outros. A festa vai do 4 ao 26 de fevereiro e o único incoveniente é ter que pagar o bondinho, deixando a noite um pouco mais cara.

The samba in the oldest neighborhood of Rio

In the "Pedra do Sal" (Rock Salt) you can find each monday the original samba of Rio, that is leadered by the "Batuque na Cozinha" (Drumming in the Kitchen). One of the oldest neighborhood of Rio, there you can feeling the Rio de Janeiro way of life, and you can see too, the original architecture of the city, that reminder us the Alfama neighborhood in Lisbon.

Located in the "morro da Conceição", the samba start 16h and is free. There you can see the stairs done by the slaves. And you can find a lot of artist, that in december they open your office to all.

The origin come from the dockers that were sambistas and after the work, they start to play samba and enjoy the leisure time. Now is one of the best Roda de Samba of all Rio de Janeiro. Is a place to go, visit and have fun.

The new way to view Rio

With the police inside the favelas, Rio started a new period of peace and entertainment. Now the attraction is up on the pacified favela and enjoy the music and the people. The favela Santa Marta, located in Botafogo, is the best exemple of it, with a program of concerts and carnival. This favelas is known it because Michael Jackson made a clip on there.

The better carnival is on the street, and will be in the favela of: Santa Marta (12/03), Pavao-Pavaozinho  e Cantagalo  (06/03) , Babilônia e Chapéu Mangueira (08/03), Ladeira dos Tabajaras (08/03), Providência (08/03), Formiga (20/02), Salgueiro (26/02) e Borel (08/03).

The people will walk on the streets of the neighborhood, but they will start and finish in front of the favela. The bolo Pela Saco of Santa Marta will walk in the streets Voluntários da Pátria and Sao Clemente. In the favela of Cocapacaba, Ladeira dos Tabajaras, the group will have the participate of the police volunteer that will play trumpet.
